No. 28 Jeff Bezos
One of the nation’s top landowners set off a bidding frenzy in 2017, and it was all about land, specifically urban acreage. On September 7, AMZN announced plans to open Amazon HQ2, a second company headquarters in North America. Cities coast to coast are currently vying for the opportunity, which is expected to generate 50,000 new jobs for the winning metropolis and require $5 billion in construction costs from Amazon. According to a press release, Amazon’s capital investments in Seattle have resulted in an additional $38 billion to the city’s economy.
