No. 40 Shannon Kizer
268,000 acres (NEW TO LIST)
Kizer turned down a college basketball scholarship in order buy a John Deere 8820 combine, which launched his career in ranching. At 20, he bought his first ranch – some 3,000 acres outside of Lingo, New Mexico – and has never looked back.
Today, the 44-year-old owns properties in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and Arizona, where he operates dairies and grows peanuts, corn, wheat, and hay.
