The 2015 Forest Landowners Association (FLA) conference will be held at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, Virginia from June 2-5, 2015. The FLA conference features forums and speakers that address a broad range of forestry issues impacting today’s private forest owners. Among the presentations are “Creating a Lasting Legacy,” “Selling Timber Wisely,” and “Tax Mitigation and Business Strategies for Forest Landowners.”
Landowners, accountants, foresters, and anyone involved in land management will benefit from an in-depth, daylong tax workshop hosted by Dr. Harry Haney Jr., a nationally renowned timber tax expert and the Garland Gray Emeritus Professor of Forestry at Virginia Tech. Attendees will learn the latest in the IRS tax code, timber tax planning and preparation techniques, strategies for positioning yourself for the expected economic recovery, and other issues affecting forestland investment. One of the highlights of the conference will be the awards ceremony where the FLA will bestow the Forest Landowner of the Year Award, the Extension Forester of the Year Award, and the Young Forest Landowner of the Year Award.
