No. 11 Ford Family
In the 1930s, Kenneth Ford (pictured above, 1908-1997) started out with a single sawmill near Roseburg, Oregon. He bought timberlands that had been repossessed for non-payment of taxes. When the post-World War II housing boom hit, Roseburg Forest Products was poised to expand. Today, the company makes engineered wood products, lumber, plywood, and particle board. Second-generation CEO Allyn Ford oversees timberlands in Western Oregon and Northern California, along with manufacturing plants around the nation.
