No. 8 Singleton Family
1,100,000 acres
Family patriarch Henry Singleton (1916–1999) bought the historic San Cristobal Ranch south of Santa Fe in 1986. It was the first of numerous ranch acquisitions by the Teledyne cofounder, who ultimately expanded his holdings to 1.1 million acres. Today, the San Cristobal serves as headquarters for the Singleton’s horse breeding program. The Singletons were recognized in 2012 with the AQHA Best Remuda Award, which is given to outstanding ranch remudas of registered American Quarter Horses. Singleton Ranches has also won the Coors Ranch Rodeo Championship two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017. The family generously supports a long list of local causes, including the Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund as well as numerous FFA chapters and 4-H councils.
