Where: Its main office is in Champaign, Illinois, with additional offices in Florida and Iowa. The company manages farmland assets for clients in Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Why: Murray Wise Associates is a leading expert in land, auction, and agribusiness transactions. Over the past 20 years, the firm has sold more than $1.2 billion at auction.
Wow: The firm partnered with Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company (see No. 2) to successfully auction 3,900 acres in North Carolina for $17 million. The property, with over 2,700 acres of tillable farmland, was offered in 21 tracts but sold in its entirety to a single bidder. “This was a lot of farmland, especially for this part of the country, but we had strong interest from every conceivable type of bidder,” says VP Joe Bubon.
