Who: Hudson & Marshall is exclusively a real estate auction company. The family firm has been in operation for more than 45 years, selling a wide variety of land including farmland, timberland, and recreational land.

Where: The firm primarily covers the southern and southwestern U.S., with a focus on Georgia, Texas, Florida, and the Carolinas, although it has successfully conducted auctions throughout the country.

Why: In 2011, the firm closed 97 percent of all land assets offered. “We pride ourselves on having one-on-one relationships with not only our sellers but also our buyers. We feel the success of every auction depends on these long-lasting relationships,” says Steve Slocumb.

Wow: In December, Hudson & Marshall auctioned 2,200 acres in Brazoria County, Texas, on behalf of the state’s General Land Office. The entire auction took less than two minutes to complete, with the winning bidder taking it all in one parcel for $5.5 million.
