Who: Schrader specializes in all types of large land tracts, including farmland, timberland, recreational land, and ranchland. A proprietary multi-tract marketing method (called M3) allows bidders to see tracts being sold on an interactive screen, enabling them to make quick decisions during the auction and offer bids on combinations. While auctions are a large segment of Schrader’s focus, traditional real estate brokerage services are also offered.
Where: Primary office in Columbia City, Indiana; conducted auctions in 14 states in 2011 and in 40 states total.
Why: The firm’s respected staff has more than 400 years’ combined experience. With nearly 56,000 acres sold last year alone, Schrader continues to be a leader in land acreage sold at auction.
Wow: In one week alone during 2011, Schrader sold 5,520 acres in Kentucky for $25 million, and then sold 3,379 acres for $25.3 million just three days later. “This shows the desire in the market from investors who want to purchase large contiguous tracts of quality farmland,” says R.D. Schrader.
