The descendants of founder Sol Simpson own and operate Simpson Investment Company and Green Diamond Resource Company. The timberlands formerly owned by Simpson are now owned by Green Diamond. In 1890, Sol Simpson started his company, and today Simpson and Green Diamond are among the oldest continuously operating forest products companies in the Pacific Northwest.
