No. 7 King Ranch Heirs
911,215 acres
On October 27 and 28, ranch owners and operators from across North America will make the trek to the King Ranch Institute for Ranch Management (KRI) at Texas A&M Kingsville to learn lessons in the Business Management of Hunting Enterprises on Working Ranches. KRI is one of many examples of leadership that has been provided by the descendants of Captain Richard King. In the last century alone, King Ranch has produced the first registered American Quarter Horse as well as Assault, the 1946 Triple Crown winner. The first recognized breed of cattle developed in the U.S., the Santa Gertrudis, was bred on King Ranch when the family set out to systematically crossbreed its Shorthorn and Hereford cattle with Brahman.
